The Problem

Traditional threat intelligence models rely on small, centralised analyst teams, often based in the West, attempting to monitor an increasingly complex and fast-moving global landscape. Analysts may lack language skills, cultural context, or proximity to unfolding events, creating gaps in understanding and delayed or incomplete intelligence. As Michael McCabe explains, major events make the headlines, but thousands of local and emerging threats are missed. The scale of global intelligence requirements exceeds what centralised teams can realistically monitor.

Our Solution

Crowd Threat was built to fill these gaps by decentralising how global situational awareness is constructed. The platform provides a real-time global map of incidents, powered by local contributors who report threats as they happen. Contributors are onboarded and trained, supported by AI-assisted tools that help structure and categorise reports. Each submission is then verified by human analysts. The model: - Enables local cultural fluency and contextual nuance - Rewards contributors for speed and accuracy - Scales beyond the limits of centralised analyst teams - Introduces layered trust and verification processes Wubbleyou partnered with Michael not simply as a development supplier but as a strategic product partner. The collaboration focused on: - Translating deep intelligence expertise into a usable product - Shaping product strategy and user experience - Designing scalable technical architecture - Providing challenge and restraint to prioritise the 20% delivering 80% of value - Grounding the vision in testable, scalable execution

"
An obvious problem in threat intelligence is that the world is a very big place. You give local people an easy way to report threats, you verify that information, and you reward speed and accuracy. I know what I want to achieve with technology, but I don’t pretend to know the best way to do it. Mark and his team helped ground the vision, making sure we built something that worked and that people would actually use, and that we could prove before scaling.

Full Story

Napoleon Bonaparte once observed that “war is 90 per cent information.” It is a lesson rooted in the power — and fragility — of intelligence. For Michael McCabe, a former military intelligence operator, the consequences of incomplete or delayed information are not theoretical. After serving in the British Army and working in the private security sector during deployments in Iraq, he later built Durham-based Intelligence Fusion into a global threat intelligence platform before its acquisition by Sigma7 in 2022. Crowd Threat builds on that experience. The core problem is scale. The world is vast, complex and fast-moving. Traditional intelligence models rely on small, centralised analyst teams attempting to interpret events from afar — often without cultural context or local language fluency. Major events dominate headlines, but thousands of emerging and localised threats never surface. Crowd Threat addresses this by decentralising intelligence gathering. The platform provides a real-time global map of incidents, powered by a distributed network of contributors reporting events as they unfold. Contributors are trained and supported by AI-assisted tools to structure reports and categorise incidents. Submissions are verified by human analysts, ensuring quality control while maintaining scalability. The system rewards speed and accuracy, creating incentives aligned with reliable reporting. Importantly, Crowd Threat was designed to scale organically. As trust grows, verification layers evolve, and the system compounds in value. More contributors lead to broader coverage, faster reporting and richer data. At sufficient scale, this enables pattern recognition, trend analysis and predictive capability — transforming situational awareness into forward-looking intelligence. To bring the platform to life, Michael partnered with Wubbleyou. The collaboration was not framed as a simple build. Instead, Wubbleyou worked as a strategic partner, helping shape product strategy, user experience and technical architecture while providing disciplined prioritisation. The focus was on testing the highest-value elements first — building the core that delivered disproportionate impact before expanding further. As a non-technical founder, Michael credits this grounding influence as critical to ensuring the product was usable, provable and scalable before expansion. The partnership also reflects a shared belief in the North East’s capacity to build globally ambitious technology businesses. Both see Crowd Threat as evidence that globally scalable platforms can be designed and delivered from the region. Launched in November, Crowd Threat has already attracted a growing contributor base and hundreds of verified threat reports — early proof that decentralised intelligence gathering can sustain both volume and quality. The longer-term ambition is clear: not simply to map incidents, but to build a living data engine capable of transforming how organisations understand and respond to global risk. The founders who build market-disrupting products don't wait for things to calm down.

There's never a perfect moment... But there has never also been a better time. Entire B2B industries are on the cusp of commoditisation - business leaders who empower their team with tech and AI, will be able to build industry leading service businesses with small but mighty teams. Tech and AI means we can productise value, but still empower your people to create way more value than has ever been possible before. But there's a right method - one that de-risks the move, stages the build alongside your existing business, and turns your proven expertise into a product that compounds. Let's talk about where you are and what the path forward looks like.
