In 2017, the DfE faced both opportunity and pressure. Apprenticeships were a cornerstone of the UK’s skills agenda, but the digital platforms supporting the National Apprenticeship & Skills Awards needed to evolve to match the scale and ambition of the programmes. The Department required: - A rebuilt national digital service under tight deadlines - A platform capable of supporting multiple stakeholder groups - A system that made celebrating apprenticeships simpler and more engaging - Technology that reflected the scale and national importance of the initiative The original rebuild challenge was delivered in just six weeks, setting the tone for a long-term relationship.
Our Solution
Through a competitive process, the DfE selected Wubbleyou as its digital partner. The collaboration was grounded in shared principles: - Digital systems should serve people, not process - Long-term trust and steady delivery Together, the teams now manage six complex but interlinked web portals supporting 11 stakeholder groups. The platforms: - Handle over 1 million interactions annually - Support hundreds of thousands of users - Automate large portions of the administrative process - Enable awards applications, national events, resource distribution and stakeholder engagement - Automation embedded within the platforms now saves teams hundreds of hours annually, allowing focus to shift from manual admin to outreach, storytelling and customer service. The partnership has strengthened through consecutive competitive tender wins and continues to evolve with new phases including smarter analytics and more personalised user experiences.
